Atty. Florencio Liong Jr., former president of the  Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Zamboanga City Basilan Sulu Tawi- Tawi Chapter, yesterday urged the Zamboanga City Police Office under Sr. Supt. Angelito A. Casimiro to do its best in the investigation of the killing of Regional Trial Court Branch 4 Judge Reynerio  G. Estacio to  get a good result in bringing the killers to the bar of justice.

Judge Estacio was gunned down by one of two men riding tandem on a  motorcycle last February 28 along Narra Drive in Tugbungan. Estacio  was driving a Honda CRV with his wife beside him. He was shot without provocation with the use of a 45 caliber. Fortunately his wife was unhurt in the gun attack.

Liong said the killing of Judge Estacio is  work-related, adding that the late Judge was litigating a high-profile case in his sala before the killing.

IBP Zambasulta Chapter has received an information that the late Judge had received a death threat two weeks before he was gunned down.

Liong urged law enforcers to fasttrack the investigation because the killing of Judge Estacio was a  blatant attack on the law profession and the justice system.

The IBP Zambasulta Chapter and the Philippine Association of Court Employees Zamboanga Chapter held a Eucharistic mass offering and necrological services for the late Judge at the lobby of the Hall of Justice in Sta. Barabara.

The mass was  officiated by Fr. Filmore Calibo. — Allen Abastillas
