City Police Director Sr. Supt. Angelito  A. Casimiro yesterday disclosed that his men are working double time in the investigation  of the killing of Regional Trial Court Branch 4 Judge Reynerio Estacio.

“We already have leads in the case. We can not divulge names of the suspect so that it will not jeopardize the ongoing investigation. We are doing our utmost best to arrest the killers so that we can bring him to the bar of justice,” Casimiro emphasized.

Casimiro’s statement came as the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Zambasulta Chapter has urged the police to do their best to get the killers.

Atty. Florencio Liong Jr., former president of the  Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Zamboanga City Basilan Sulu Tawi- Tawi Chapter, said the killing of Judge Estacio is  work-related, adding that the late Judge was litigating a high-profile case in his sala before the killing.

IBP Zambasulta Chapter has received an information that the late Judge had received a death threat two weeks before he was gunned down.

Liong urged law enforcers to fasttrack the investigation because the killing of Judge Estacio was a  blatant attack on the law profession and the justice system.

The IBP Zambasulta Chapter and the Philippine Association of Court Employees Zamboanga Chapter held a Eucharistic mass offering and necrological services for the late Judge at the lobby of the Hall of Justice in Sta. Barbara last Tuesday.

The late Judge Estacio was gunned down by one of two  men riding tandem on a motorcycle last February 28 along Narra Drive in Tugbungan.

Estacio was driving  a Honda CRV with his wife beside him when the gun attack took place..     The gunman shot him using a 45 caliber. Fortunately his wife was  unhurt in the gun attack.

Casimiro said that his operatives confirmed the killing of Judge Estacio is worked related.  — Allen Abastillas
