2nd Coca-Cola PBA Young Stars tourney set in Zambo PDF Print E-mail

Zamboanga City has been chosen again as host for the Mindanao regional finals of the Coca-Cola PBA Young Stars to be held on May 9-11, 2014. This is the second year of the tournament in Zamboanga City.

Pedro Alfaro Jr., Federacion Basketbolista Zamboanga (FBZ) president and Basketball Association of the Philippines-Samahang Basketbolista ng Pilipinas (BAP-SBP) Arear Head, announced that the tournament will have 10 teams, each team composed of players from 13 to 16 years old.

Alfaro said players will be chosen from the try-out which will be on April 1 and 2, 7:30 a.m. at the Zamboanga City Coliseum.

The tournament aims to promote discipline and baskeball basic skills for the grass root level.

Its age categories are:

Three (3) 13 years old (Born on year 2001)

Three (3) 14 years old (Born on year 2000)

Three (3) 15 years old (Born on year 1999)

Three (3) 16 years old (Born on year 1998)

Each player must be an actual resident of the city or municipality he is representing for at least a year.

Tournament proper will be from April 20, 2014 to May 7, 2014. Regional finals will  be on May 9,10,11, 2014. Whoever wins will be representing the region on the national finals on May 18-25, 2014 in Manila.

Alfaro said this is one tournament with direction participation of the country’s pro basketball league the PBA.

It is a tournament for young basketeers who will have an avenue for them to play in during the summer months, the SBP Area head added.
