Bullets still whiz around Zamboanga City as another trader was shot dead in Talon-Talon Wednesday night.

The latest fatality was identified as Arasad Aminte y Hamsao, 54, a seaweeds trader and a resident of Arena Blanco.

Police said that Aminte was declared dead on arrival in the hospital due to a bullet wound in the head.

Initial investigation showed that Aminte was riding on a passenger jeepney bound for the city proper from Arena Blanco when he was shot around 7:10 p.m.

Witnesses told the police that when the jeepney that Aminte and other passengers were riding approached the junction of Logoy Grande in Talon-Talon, a male passenger drew a pistol and shot him at close range.

Aminte was rushed to the hospital while the gunman quickly alighted the vehicle and fled.

Aminte’s gunslay came a day after two men were shot — one was killed and the other wounded — in separate gun attacks Tuesday.

Ismael Unga a native of Jolo, Sulu was shot and killed at the intersection of Corcuera and Rizal Streets at past 7 a.m.

The gunman engaged in a shootout with a policeman while he was fleeing.

None of them was hit during the exchange of gunfire. –

Felix Mosqueda y Cathrinas, 45, married, of Tugbungan, was shot in Tumaga. He sustained bullet wounds in the left hand and left thigh and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Mosqueda was driving a motorcycle along Tumaga road heading South. While approaching the Tumaga bridge, two men riding tandem on another motorcycle chased him and the backrider shot him several times.

Although wounded, Mosqueda managed to drive the motorcycle that brought him to the Sta. Maria Police Station where he reported the incident. He was then taken to the hospital.

Witnesses told the police that the gunman was clad in white jacket while the driver of the motorcycle was wearing red t-shirt. They sped towards the direction of the city proper. — Dan Toribio Jr.
